Bode’s and Cigar Galaxies

This is one of my first attempts at capturing a galaxy, since March is galaxy season. Pretty happy with my initial results, but also surprised at how small they are in the frame. I plan on shooting this again with the OM-1 using a 2x or 3x Barlow lens to hopefully get more detail.

Bode’s Galaxy (also known as NGC 3031 or Messier 81) is a grand design spiral galaxy about 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. – Wikipedia

Cigar Galaxy (also known as NGC 3034, Messier 82 or M82) is a starburst galaxy approximately 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. – Wikipedia
